Rocking Motion Analysis Using Structural Identification Tools

This research investigates the convenience of structural identification tools to detect rocking motion tendency, using as input response ambient vibrations. The ratio and spectrum are proposed original highlight its frequency content. procedure allows detection quantification only building vertical records in both cases vibration earthquake. First, three-dimensional finite element models reinforced concrete buildings adopted simulate white noise vibration. Different low- high-rise studied, having framed structure frame–wall system, regular irregular structure, shallow foundation underground floors. obtained numerically is analyzed different signal processing obtain dynamic features buildings, tendency identified by comparison with a reference fixed base condition. Then, reliability methodology attitude, motion, verified quantified tools. Finally, same approach applied real building.
